About STUMP KING
Stump King has been in business since 1961, when it was established by Walden Parker. Wald (as he is known by clients, friends, and family) left his professional career as a "court reporter" to try something new where he could enjoy the outdoors. He searched for different business opportunities, and decided to create his own specialty — which was grinding and removing stumps. 39 years later, Wald retired — after grinding and removing over 1 million stumps, according to his estimates.
In June 2000, Kyle Knight, purchased the business from Wald — Kyle like Wald had also been searching for a business opportunity where he could also enjoy working outdoors. After numerous years working as a Senior Financial Analyst for a government defense company, Kyle was ready for the change.
Kyle had prior experience working in the tree landscaping business — so, making the transition was smooth, especially with Wald’s mentoring during the process. Kyle really enjoys working throughout the bay area — discovering new neighborhoods, meeting new customers every day, and is thankful for this wonderful opportunity to be able to provide his customers with the "best service."
Kyle brings to his business his great analytical and engineering skills — thus, living up to his reputation that "no stump is too difficult for Kyle to reach and remove."
Kyle and Wald developed a good friendship and still communicate often — they especially enjoy sharing stump removal stories.
